Senior Portraits - FAQ

It's difficult to believe that it's already time to start doing senior portraits for the class of 2010.  One thing I’ve learned while working with senior portrait clients is that the senior year of high school is a very busy time.  In some ways your senior portraits will just be one more thing to worry about.  Below are questions that I get asked the most frequently, along with some answers that I hope will help get you on your way to checking one thing off your senior year to-do list.

Do I really need to schedule my senior portraits this early?

Most of the local schools’ yearbook deadlines are before Thanksgiving.  That may sound like it’s a long way off, but summer will go quickly.  Once school starts up again in the fall, it’s often difficult to find time to fit in a portrait session.  Think you’ll just schedule your session on a Saturday?  It’s possible, but there are only so many Saturdays in the fall and they fill up fast.

Do I have to wear only boring clothes?

If you schedule a Deluxe session you should absolutely bring some non-boring clothing items that are more fun and show your personality.  But what you call boring, photographers call “classic.”  For at least some of your portraits you should choose clothing that is simple and solid-colored.  Most of my clients bring a number of outfits so that we can work together to pick the best ones.  Accessories are always fun too.

Will you take care of my yearbook portrait?

Yes.  I work with the local schools and am familiar with their yearbook requirements.

Can I change my hairstyle during the session?

That depends.  There is time during a session to make a few adjustments, but if you need to straighten it or wash it to make it curly, it’s best to schedule separate sessions.  There is time to check your hair and touch up your makeup during the session.

Can I bring sports equipment or a musical instrument?

If you schedule a Deluxe session you can bring items/uniforms relating to any activities that you’re involved in.  We will definitely work them into some of your portraits.

Can I have portraits taken outdoors?

Yes.  While most of the schools require an indoor studio shot for the yearbook, you can add an Outdoor portrait session to either the Basic or Deluxe session.

Do you use Senior Ambassadors?

Rather that use an ambassador system, I have a Referral Bonus Program.  All clients are eligible to earn free portraits by referring friends and family to me.  For every new client referred, you receive a $25 gift certificate towards your own portrait order.

Where are you located?

I work out of a studio in my home off of River Road in Granville/Newark.   You will receive complete directions in your information packet.

My Favorite Guys.

A few new pictures of my sons who get dragged into the studio all the time.  So far, they're still good sports about it.  (Bribing them with ice cream doesn't hurt.)

Sneak Peek: A-dorable!

This little sweetie arrived in tears - never a good sign.  But she really perked up once we got going.  Check out her pose on the chaise lounge, and her little painted toenails.  What a princess!

Sneak Peek - Glowing!

This sweet and very lovely client came to me recently for some maternity portraits.  She is glowing in a way I never did, which made for great images.  Best wishes to her and her little one!
